EL: I Don’t Owe The System My Energy
The Exit Logs Series
I used to give everything away.
My time, my creativity, my presence.
As if the world had a right to me.
As if I had to earn the right to rest.
The system taught me that my worth
was measured in output.
If I was producing, I had value.
If I was still, I was wasting potential.
So I gave.
And gave.
And gave.
Until I couldn’t feel myself anymore.
This is what the Matrix runs on:
consensual exhaustion.
It doesn't steal your lifeforce outright.
It convinces you to trade it
for approval,
for survival,
for the illusion of security.
And the scariest part?
You’ll feel guilty for not giving more.
It took me years to realize:
I don’t owe the system anything.
Not my mornings.
Not my bandwidth.
Not my emotional labor.
Not my constant accessibility.
I was born with this energy.
It is mine.
It belongs to my body.
To my art.
To my truth.
To my loved ones.
To the version of the future
that isn’t just a prettier cage.
Sovereignty isn’t just about land or money.
It begins with this:
You get to choose where your energy goes.
You don’t have to explain that to anyone.
You don’t have to apologize for conserving it.
You don’t have to leak life into systems
that would replace you in a heartbeat
if you collapsed.
The world may call that selfish.
I call it deprogramming.
