EL2: I Am Learning to Belong to Myself

“I spent so long trying to earn belonging

that I forgot it was my birthright.”

—

They don’t tell you this,

but exiting the Matrix is lonely.

Not because truth is isolating—

but because for a while,

you’re no longer fluent in the old language

and not yet anchored in the new one.

The places you used to contort yourself to fit

no longer recognize you.

And the version of you that once begged to be included—

you no longer recognize either.

—

So I floated.

Untethered.

In between.

Until one day,

I stopped reaching outward

and turned toward something quieter.

A pulse.

A breath.

A whisper that said:

“You were never meant to belong there.
You were meant to belong here.
To yourself.”

—

Self-belonging is not a concept.

It is a practice of re-anchoring.

Of choosing presence over performance.

Of rooting into your own truth

even when no one else can see it yet.

It is sitting with your shame

until it softens.

It is holding your tenderness

like sacred ground.

It is looking into your own eyes and saying:

I see you. I hear you. I will not leave you.

—

The Matrix taught me to seek mirrors in other people.

But integration taught me to become my own reflection.

Now, I build my life around resonance—

not approval.

I choose the spaces where I can be whole—

not just welcomed.

And if I don’t find them,

I create them.

Because I am no longer waiting to be accepted.

I am remembering that I am already home.

Here.

In this body.

In this breath.

In this now.
