EL2: My Nervous System Is My Guide Now

“It wasn’t logic that saved me.

It was the whisper in my spine.”

There was a time I lived by metrics.

By code and strategies and five-year plans.

I trusted systems more than signals.

I trusted expectations more than instincts.

And when I broke down,

the system called it a malfunction.

But it wasn’t.

It was my body telling the truth

before my mind could admit it.

The nervous system is not a problem to be solved.

It is a compass.

It is the language of what’s real.

Before thought. Before story. Before justification.

And yet, most of us are taught to override it.

Smile when we’re breaking.

Push when we need to pause.

Numb when we need to listen.

This is how we become lost in the noise.

The path back wasn’t a spiritual breakthrough.

It was a thousand small choices:

Saying no even when it disappointed someone.

Resting even when the voice said “you’re lazy.”

Eating when I was hungry.

Crying when I was full of unspoken things.

It was noticing—

What feels like collapse?
What feels like clarity?
What contracts my body?
What opens it like a prayer?

The Matrix will try to convince you that logic is the highest authority.

That body wisdom is irrational.

That intuition is a fluke.

But the nervous system knows the difference

between survival and aliveness.

And mine was never wrong.

Only ignored.

Now, I ask it everything.

Before every decision, every relationship, every next step—

I ask my body:

Do we feel safe?
Do we feel whole?
Do we feel free?

And if the answer is no,

I don’t move forward.

Even if it looks perfect on paper.

Even if I can’t explain why.

Even if everyone else says yes.

Because freedom isn’t an idea.

It’s a felt sense.

And the body always knows.
