SLIT: Time is Not a Clock

They sold you your own breath in hourly chunks.

But time was never meant to be counted.

Time Was Not Always a Commodity

Once, time was a rhythm.

It moved with the sun, the moon, the season, the song.

It rose with birds.

It slowed in the heat.

It stretched beside rivers.

It spiraled during dreams.

Time was embodied, shared, felt.

Until they cut it into pieces.

Time Became a Grid

Clocks on walls.

Schedules on screens.

Calendars built like cages.

Suddenly, time could be owned.

You could “sell your time.”

You could “waste time.”

You could be “on the clock.”

But who built the clock?

And who profits when you're racing against it?

Scarcity Engineered:

  • Childhoods structured around bells and deadlines

  • Workdays divorced from bodily rhythm

  • Elder years framed as expiration

  • Rest deemed lazy

  • Presence fragmented into alerts, urgency, and metrics

You were never taught to feel time.

You were taught to manage it.

As if it were a beast that might escape.

As if it were the enemy.

But time was not the enemy.

Disconnection was.

The Regenerative Truth

Time is not linear.

It is not scarce.

It does not belong to your employer.

It does not need to be optimized.

Time is a field you move through.

A pulse. A tide. A breathing wave.

There is more than enough time

for healing, for building, for being.

But only when you step out of the cage.

The SLIT

This is the tenth cut — the rhythm wound.

They made you believe time was running out —

when in truth, you were being run.

They told you to track every second.

But the second you did,

you lost presence.

You lost your place in eternal time.

“You must earn your time,” they said.

But the moment you were born, it was already yours.

Integration: Rewilding Your Time

  • Begin your day without a clock whenever possible

  • Mark time by sun, meal, breath, energy, not just schedules

  • Reclaim time for slowness — even five minutes is revolutionary

  • Stop apologizing for how long things take

  • Make room for sacred time — grief, joy, transition, ceremony

The more you resist the urgency trance,

the more time opens to meet you.

And you realize — you were never late.

You were just being timed by the wrong gods.

“Time is not slipping away.

You are simply remembering how to return to it.”
