WIMTBH: Joy Is Your Compass
Pleasure is not indulgence. It’s instruction.
“Joy is not the goal.
It’s the guide.
It shows you where your energy wants to go.”
Joy is often treated as an afterthought.
A luxury you might earn after the work is done.
But what if joy wasn’t a bonus —
what if it was your true north?
Not the fleeting kind of dopamine-chasing joy,
but the deep, cellular, coherence-inducing kind.
The kind of joy that makes your nervous system exhale.
The kind that makes your whole body say: “Yes. More of this.”
Joy Points to Alignment
You don’t have to think your way to your purpose.
You can feel your way there.
Joy is the compass of your soul —
showing you what is resonant, what is energizing, what is alive.
When you suppress your joy, you suppress your inner GPS.
When you follow your joy, you start to move in the direction of your own design.
The Matrix Doesn’t Want You Joyful
Joyful people are harder to control.
They’re harder to sell to.
Harder to shame.
Harder to extract from.
So the system conditions you to:
Defer joy for “later”
Feel guilty for feeling good
Associate joy with laziness or self-indulgence
Distrust your pleasure
But pleasure is not the problem.
Disconnection is.
Joy Is Nervous System Medicine
When you feel joy:
Your brain releases serotonin and oxytocin
Your immune system boosts
Your vagus nerve activates
Your heart rhythm smooths
Your field expands
Joy is not a distraction from the work.
It’s what gives you the energy to do it.
Human Reclamation Practice
Try this:
Make a list of 5 things that bring you true joy — no matter how small
Pick one and do it today — for no reason other than it feels good
As you do it, notice your breath, your body, your heart
Say aloud: “Joy is my compass.”
Notice where it wants to take you next.
Closing
To be human is to feel joy —
not after the work is done,
but as part of how you remember who you are.
Joy isn’t selfish.
It’s signal.
It doesn’t just feel good — it does good.
Follow it.
Let it teach you your rhythm.
Let it recalibrate your path.
Because the more joy you follow,
the more you return.
